ENROLMENT SCHEME NO LONGER

The Kenakena School Board of Trustees has ‘abandoned’ its enrolment scheme following an application to the Ministry of Education.

The enrolment scheme and its corresponding ‘school zone’ was implemented in 2004 following a period of very rapid growth when the number of students enrolling at Kenakena exceeded the classroom space we had available to accommodate them. Since then we have had an extensive building programme, including new classrooms and no longer have the need to restrict enrolments to a school zone.

After having many inquiries from ‘out-of-zone’ families to enrol their children at Kenakena, there is no longer any reason to turn those enrolments away as there is no risk of overcrowding.

The Board has no reason to believe we will see a huge upsurge in enrolments beyond our ability to accommodate them. If, in the future, a situation of overcrowding did eventuate, the Board could then move once again to implement an enrolment scheme if required.

Come to the office to fill out the Enrolment Form. Any information from your previous school is helpful to place your child in the appropriate class.

Make an appointment for you and your child to meet Mr Mc Donald the Principal, by contacting Lynda or Viv our Office Managers.

On the day your child starts school, please report to the office before going to the classroom.
