Kauri Career Day

BEING FUTURE-FOCUSSED: CAREERS

Students in the Kauri (Year 7&8) Team are currently engaged in a future-focussed study on Careers. One of the significant questions each student will seek to answer is;
o What are the skills, behaviours and knowledge required for particular jobs?
In this unit the students will explore and identify who they are regarding their passions, interests and skills. By examining what employers/organisations value they will use this as a basis for comparing and contrasting what is needed individually to start envisioning a career pathway. They will present their own personal learning journey as a detailed investigation that will not only identify what they know about themselves and what they might envisage in terms of possible careers but will also identify how they will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to get there.
On Tuesday as part of their study, our students attended presentations by school parents on their respective careers. Parents delivered wonderful stories of their career paths and the realities of their day to day work.
